OUR MISSION
We believe music is cultural infrastructure, not a luxury. Safe & Sound Music Collective exists to make professional studio spaces accessible, to make music empowering, to promote creative wellness and autonomy, and to be a space that is community-driven for artists who have been excluded from the industry.
Rooted in DIY values of mutual aid and shared knowledge, we operate through three core commitments: access, mentorship, and sustainability. Through sliding-scale sessions and a Community Flex Fund, we remove financial barriers so artists can create with care and dignity. Our scholarship aids in training the next generation of engineers and producers through hands-on learning and creative agency. We build all programs with sustainability at the center, ensuring fair compensation for facilitators so this work remains long-term and community-owned.
We are here to transform the idea of the music industry from a mystified, gatekept grind into a welcoming cultural force where artists are not just allowed in, but deeply supported in building the future sound of their communities.

MEET THE FOUNDER
Say hello to Alex Tran!
Alex is an audio engineer and the founder of Safe & Sound Music Collective, a Colorado nonprofit expanding equitable access to music production resources and education. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Sociology with concentrations in vulnerability, accessibility, and social support systems. During college, Alex volunteered with the Southwest Safehouse program at Volunteers of America, where she supported families experiencing crisis by organizing youth programming, assisting with grant research, and helping with administrative operations.
She began her work in music through the DIY scene, running an independent cassette label that produced and distributed releases for artists across the United States and internationally. Alex currently works as an audio engineer at Conway Sound, where she records, edits, and supports artists while contributing to educational programming for emerging engineers and producers. Through Safe & Sound Music Collective, she brings together her nonprofit background and industry experience to build programs that provide studio access, scholarships, and financial support for underrepresented artists and audio professionals.
