Safe & Sound Music Collective grew out of the natural progression of our founder’s journey in the music industry.

Alex entered the music world as a teenager, running a DIY label where she helped artists with physical releases, booked local shows, and supported grassroots promotion. During college, she stepped away from the industry to focus on earning her degrees in anthropology and sociology and expected to build a long-term career in social work. After graduating, she entered the nonprofit sector, but her heart wasn’t fully in the mission. She missed working in music.

Alex eventually returned to the industry, pivoting to audio engineering. She fell in love with the technicality and the artistry, but working as one of the only women in her space, she also saw firsthand the gaps in accessibility, safety, and representation that had persisted since her early days in DIY spaces. Alex began intentionally shaping her sessions into welcoming, safer spaces for women, queer artists, neurodivergent creatives, and disabled musicians; creating a space in the industry that was never there for her. As she reconnected with her roots in community-based work, she recognized a way to bridge her passion for music with her background in nonprofit service.

What started as her desire to protect and uplift the people in the room has grown into a larger mission: supporting underserved artists, opening doors to technical education, building a safer industry, and creating a more accessible future for music in Colorado and beyond.
